Has anyone offended you lately? How did it make you feel?
The truth is that most everyone we meet is fighting a battle we know nothing about. It’s also true that most people who feel hurt or offended tend to be hurtful or offensive toward others.
Jesus gives us an amazing example of how to live unoffendable. He was not offended when He was slapped, spit on, and lied about. He was not offended when He was beaten to the edge of death with Roman whips made to rip away a person’s flesh.
Jesus was not offended when a crown of sharp thorns was pounded on His head, a robe was put on His bloody body, and the Roman soldiers laughed at Him, hailing Him as King of the Jews.
Jesus was not offended when they stripped Him and made Him carry a heavy cross until He no longer could. He was not offended when they hammered thick nails into His hands and His feet.
Can you imagine the pain He felt as each pounding of the hammer drove those nails through His flesh? Can you imagine how painful it was for Him to push up with His feet and pull up with His arms just so He could speak?
Can you imagine how much suffering He went through and still not be offended? Can you imagine Jesus saying, “Father forgive them, for they know not what they do,” before He took His last breath?
I pray that you, by the Grace of God, are able to live life unoffendable, walking daily in the joy of the Lord. I pray this in Jesus Name!
