Every family has the right to live in a Peaceful Home filled with the joy of the Lord. It’s God’s desire that we live in a peaceful home, where we can rest. So why is it that sometimes we come home, after a stressful day’s work, to a home filled with strife? A home where arguing seems to happen a lot more than we like? A place where we don’t always get a good night’s rest?
Here are a few scriptures that help us better understand this:
Ephesians 6:12 tells us – “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”
John 10:10 adds – “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.”
And I Peter 5:8 makes it very clear – “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”
In addition, God’s word tells us how our property (our land) can be defiled by sin, our sin and/or the sins of those who occupied the property before us.
Here are scriptures, you can look up, to identify the things that cause God to judge property:
- Incest/Sexual Immorality – Leviticus 18:6-19
- Adultery – Leviticus 18:20
- Divination/Abortion/Idolatry – Leviticus 18:21
- Homosexuality – Leviticus 18:23
You’re probably thinking that your family and you have not sinned against the Lord in these ways. I can relate. So why should you be concerned about your property? Well in Leviticus 18:26-28 God’s word tells us – “You shall, therefore, keep My statutes and My judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations, either any of your own nation or any stranger who dwells among you (for all these abominations the men of the land have done, who were before you, and thus the land is defiled), lest the land vomit you out also when you defile it, as it vomited out the nations that were before you.”
Do not take this lightly. Judgment comes when we allow Satan’s demonic forces to trespass in our lives and on our property. We must walk the boundaries, put up the fences, and post “NO TRESPASSING” signs on our hearts, lives, families, homes, property, and possessions.
